Rotation Structure
The Psychiatry rotation provides clinical experience with the evaluation and management of acute and chronic psychiatric diseases. Residents will care for patients with a variety of psychiatric conditions and upon graduation will be well prepared for academic psychiatry, private practice psychiatry, or public sector psychiatry.
PGY-1: First Year Rotations (13 blocks per academic year)

- 2 Neurology
- 3 Psychiatry Inpatient (St. Joseph Hospital)
- 3 Psychiatry Inpatient (EPC)
- 1 VA Psychiatry
- 2-3 Child & Adolescence Psychiatry
- 1 Geriatrics Psychiatry
- 1-2 Addiction Psychiatry (New Dawn/HIV/County Jail)
- 3 Emergency Psychiatry
- 2-3 Consult Liaison
- Forensic/Community exposure and start outpatient psychiatry
- 13 Outpatient Psychiatry
- 3 Senior Resident Rotations/Junior Attending Inpatient
- Continuity Clinic Outpatient Psychiatry
- Research and Electives
- Forensic and Community exposure
- Administrative Rotations
